Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston has made quite the impression after bursting onto the PGA Tour in 2016 — and his Happy Gilmore antics are just getting started. Alongside 1991 PGA Championship winner John Daly, Johnston is set to contest a ‘birdie, beer and beef triathlon’ in 2017 after being challenged by Australian Steven Bowditch.
ESPN can only assume that the triathlon will contain lots of drinking, meat-eating and golf. And then maybe some more drinking.
It is no secret that Johnston, who shone at this year’s Open Championship, loves a drink or two. He promised to get the beers in after earning his PGA Tour card in September, and in June said he would be ‘drunk for a week’ if he won the U.S. Open.
But now he will be drinking for bragging rights after picking Daly to contest the triathlon against Bowditch and 2008 Ryder Cup star Boo Weekley.
